KEEP THE BEAT!

31 Dec

Greetings WorldBeat Global Family,

2012 was a positive year of growth for the WorldBeat Cultural Center; we continue to provide unique programming for children and low-income families as well as produce free annual community cultural events. Our goal for 2013 is to keep our numerous programs and events going. Any gift, small or large, will help keep our programs up and running.

This year, the WorldBeat Cultural Center continued holding classes and workshops in its children’s performing arts department, which allows low-income families to attend programming that otherwise would not be a possibility. Also, we have granted scholarships to struggling families who cannot afford the already low-cost fees. The WorldBeat Cultural Center knows that the youth are our future leaders; the greatness of the nation begins with the children. Our performing arts programs include theatre, drumming, dance, and art; additionally, we have formed a collaboration with a Youth Music Academy.

In the midst of adversities, the WorldBeat Cultural Center has striven for and accomplished the continuation of its youth, family, and children’s programs and annual free family multicultural events in Balboa Park. We are building bonds while bringing cultures together in diverse communities in order to continue to teach tolerance, peace, and compassion for all people. Let’s continue to keep on with these great programs in 2013. Harambee! Let’s pull together!

With gratitude,

WorldBeat Cultural Center Fundraiser

1 Sep

Greetings Peace Ambassador,

WorldBeat Cultural Center would like to invite you to the first annual Reggae Summersplash. This is our second biggest fundraiser of the year. Tribute to the Legends/ Bob Marley Day, made it possible to continue to present Multi-Cultural Earth Day, low-cost concerts, weekly classes, and family activities. WorldBeat Center keeps our artists working throughout the year in local schools, libraries and a host of other crucial activities to related to arts and culture.

The top program of the summer was our Children’s Cultural Performing Arts Summer Camp where WorldBeat Center hosted over 100 children of middle class and low income families for an economical fee. We need your continued support to “Keep the Beat.” WorldBeat Center receives very little funding from San Diego OSP TOT,  so we need both fundraisers and your donations to allow us to keep serving the San Diego community and its numerous visitors.

With your support WorldBeat Center would like to place a new dance floor, acquire more musical instruments, build a Breathing Room for yoga and meditation, and maintain legal fees. Also, our Ethnobotany Children’s garden needs tools and seeds. If you are not a member, we encourage you to join our membership or join us this Sunday for Reggae Summersplash on San Diego’s Broadway Pier. Without your continued support there would not be a WorldBeat Cultural Center in San Diego.

All over the world brothers and sisters are talking about the WorldBeat Center and want to know how to facilitate one their hometown.  San Diego is very blessed to have a multi-cultural center dedicated to peace and diversity which is necessary during this time.

Music, art and culture is a great vehicle for unity. WorldBeat Cultural Center gives the community a safe place to eat, dance, and appreciate unity and diversity. As long as we see ourselves as separate from each other, there will  be continued misunderstandings that can develop into hatred. Looking at the climate of these times, there is still lack of knowledge that there is only one race, the human race.

September we’ll be starting a new program with the Instrument Music Academy of San Diego which will offer innovative and exciting instrumental music classes for kids, teens and young adults.

Please donate what you can or support us by volunteering your skills at the WorldBeat Center. If you’re interested in a cross cultural exchange, we have a sister center in Ensenada, Mexico. For more information please visit http://www.culturebeatmexico.com

We’re very proud that a small center can do giant things for the world.

Come out Sunday for Reggae Summersplash and support culture!
